Foreign Nationals Bought 11,816 Properties in Turkey in 2018

In Turkey, the boom in the tourism sector in 2018 have a good impact on real estate, as well. According to data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK), foreigners purchased a total of 11,816 properties across Turkey in the first 6 months of 2018, with an increase of 18,8 % compared to the same period of 2017.

Turkey’s Property Sales by City

  • In house sales to foreigners, Istanbul is the number one province with 3,999 units in the 6 months period of 2018, with an increase of 13%.
  • The Mediterranean resort of Antalya is the 2nd most popular province with 2,883 units sold to foreigners, with an increase of 27,5%.
  • Bursa has become the 3rd city, buying 812 real estates, with an increase of 13,6%.
  • Yalova is in 4th place, foreigners who bought 432 houses were sold 558 houses this year with an increase of 22,6%.
  • Trabzon is in 5th place, 424 houses bought foreigners in the same period this year, an increase of 21.5 percent 540 housing sales were made.
  • Ankara is in 6th place with 392 units, with an increase of 9,3%.
  • Mersin is in 7th place with 278 units, an increase of 16,6 %.
  • Sakarya is in 8th place with 337 units, with an increase of 2%.
  • Aydın is in 9th place with 291 units, with an increase of 5,3%.
  • Mugla is in 10th place with 296 units, with an increase of 11,9%.

The rest 1326 units have been sold in the other cities of Turkey.

Iraqis bought 1987 units in Turkey in the 6 months period of 2018, according to data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK). They were followed by Saudis with 1087 units, Iranians with 944 units, Russians with 815 units, Afghans with 719 units, Kuwaitis with 606 units, Germans with 542 units, Azerbaijanis with 414 units, English with 412 units, Jordanian with 373 units, Egyptians with 268 units, Yemeni with 263 units, Ukrainians with 259 units, Qatari with 231 units, Swedish with 226 units, Kazakhstani with 188 units, Palestinians with 178 units.
