Antalya Airport Expansion Opened with 82 Million Passenger Capacity

Antalya Airport has completed a large-scale expansion that increases its annual passenger capacity from 35 million to 82 million, making it the second-largest airport in Turkey after Istanbul. The newly built international and domestic terminals were inaugurated on April 12, 2025, in a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, alongside foreign officials, government representatives, and local authorities.

Antalya Airport Expansion Opened with 82 Million Passenger Capacity

Terminal and Apron Infrastructure Expanded

The international terminal (Terminal 2) was extended from 90,143 to 224,000 square meters, while the domestic terminal grew from 36,859 to 75,000 square meters. Commercial areas were also expanded, with redesigned duty-free zones, food and beverage areas, and new passenger lounges offering tiered services under Comfort, Elite, and Premium categories.

Aircraft parking capacity was increased from 108 to 176 stands with the addition of new apron areas. The airport gained approximately 1.4 million square meters of extra apron surface, improving aircraft handling and traffic flow, particularly during peak seasons.

Support buildings were also upgraded. The General Aviation Terminal was expanded to 2,800 square meters, and the VIP Terminal to 2,000 square meters. A 2,000-square-meter State Guesthouse and a 5,000-square-meter DHMİ service building were constructed, along with new residential facilities for staff.

Operational Performance and Inter-Terminal Access

In 2024, despite the scale of construction, the airport served a total of 234,099 flights and 39.2 million passengers. This included 45,351 domestic flights carrying 6.2 million passengers and 188,748 international flights with nearly 33 million passengers.

The distance between the domestic and international terminals—approximately two kilometers—is expected to be covered by a frequent shuttle system operated by the airport to ease passenger movement and reduce transfer time.

Antalya remains one of Europe’s most visited destinations and a key entry point for travelers to Turkey. The airport’s expanded infrastructure is now equipped to handle future growth and align with the region’s increasing demand in tourism, trade, and transportation.
